Surgyn, The Arches Glasgow, Live Photos.

These guys are actually from Dundee, my hometown...but I hadn't actually heard of them before this show...I think I need to get out more haha or maybe stop travelling elsewhere for gigs!
However, if you haven't heard of Surgyn, go check out their music! It's good to see local acts on tour with bands like Combichrist.

If you want to view the full set you know what to do, my Flickr page has all of the photos from the show http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicolasharkeyphotography Have a look, I'm actually starting to make use of my pro account now!
Hopefully I'll have even more photos soon :)

Xavia, The Arches Glasgow, Live Photos.

Another quick blog post with some photos of local acts who were supporting Combichrist at The Arches in Glasgow. Firstly to fill you in, I never managed to actually get photos of Combichrist in the end as I had to leave early and missed their set...kinda gutted about that however I did get photos of two of their support bands.
So this group were the first support of the night and are called Xavia, I believe they are from Glasgow. If you haven't heard of them already you should check out their music on their website, they're pretty good.

Lighting was actually great for The Arches, never shot a gig at this venue before so I was quite surprised...although they need to tone down on the strobe lighting...it's impossible to take photos in, timing is key! Anyway, if you want to view the full set from this show, go to my Flickr page at, http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicolasharkeyphotography
I'll have another post soon with photos of Surgyn, stay tuned.

William Control, ABC2 Glasgow, Live Photos.

Back with photos of William Control on the New Faith tour at the ABC2 in Glasgow.
Actually, it was the first time I had seen William Control live (who is infact WiL Francis of Aiden by the way) and I have seen Aiden perform many times previously, however both bands are completely different in genre perspective so it was amazing to finally see and hear William Control aswell. If you couldn't tell I was standing further back for these photos and luckily they still came out in focus. I really liked the smoke and lighting in these shots, it always makes it much easier to photograph aswell and it looks a lot more atmospheric I would say.

Anyway, the show was amazing, and I would suggest everyone to go check out William Control. If you want to have a look at the rest of the photos from this show, go to my Flickr page at, http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicolasharkeyphotography
Also, I have a photo pass confirmed for a gig next week, so check back for photos from that, it's going to be another exciting one.

Fearless Vampire Killers, ABC2 Glasgow, Live Photos

Hey everyone,
Another quick blog post with photos of Fearless Vampire Killers support slot with William Control on the New Faith tour at the ABC2 in Glasgow. (There will be a seperate post for photos of William Control so be sure to check back for that.)
Having only been to this certain part of the ABC once before (surprised aren't you) I wasn't fully aware that there was no photo pit for this venue...which literally means that it will be much harder to take photos as we were too close to the performers. Even more so in this case since I only had my 50mm lens with me...oops! However it made for some interesting shots, and something a little bit different from what I usually do, even if 99% of the time the lens was focusing on individual hair strands instead of the actual face of each member...

If you haven't already checked out FVK's music, then I suggest you go buy yourself a copy of their debut album in HMV, it's pretty awesome.

If you want to check out the rest of the photos from this set, go to my Flickr page at, http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicolasharkeyphotography
Right, I will update with another post soon, stay tuned.

Lostprophets, O2 Academy Glasgow, Live Photos.
Hey everyone,
Quick blog post with some of my photos from Lostprophets, O2 Academy Glasgow show on the 25th April.
I also reviewed the gig for Is This Music, so if you want to have a read the link is, http://www.isthismusic.com/lostprophets
I have actually been a fan of Lostprophets since about 2001, so it was amazing to be able to finally photograph them after such a long time.

The show was amazing, but I must say for the photographers the lighting was kind of ridiculous for taking photos, you couldn't see a thing for one so the camera wasn't picking up anything...and the photos that actually did come out were totally by chance, luck, and timing! Which of course is the great thing about photography, you never know what results you're going to achieve even with unlucky circumstances...
Surprisingly enough, I think these photos are actually some of my favourites that I have ever taken! Anyway, if you want to check out the rest of the set go over to my Flickr page (I have also upgraded my account to PRO now, woo!) http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicolasharkeyphotography

Mystery Jets, Electric Circus Edinburgh, Live Photos.

Here's some photos from Mystery Jets show at the Electric Circus in Edinburgh, on the 1st April, no joke. One of my favourite bands performing in one of my favourite venues aswell, which was pretty cool! I was also reviewing this gig for Is This Music, so if you go over to their website you can read all about it in depth there, http://www.isthismusic.com/mystery-jets
The sad thing was that their original bassist Kai had actually left the band so he wasn't there, which was ashame, but if you want to see previous photos I have taken of his own project last year then check them out at this link, Kai Fish at the Brel Bar, Glasgow, Live Photos.

The shot below is one of my favourites from the set, their drummer Kapil happened to be looking right into my camera lens at the time I was taking the photo, which was very lucky indeed.

Edward Scissorhands.

I had a few gigs that I photographed all at the one time and I ended up forgetting about a few landscape photographs that I had taken at some excellent locations. Upon browsing through my files recently I stumbled across them and I couldn't help but wonder why I had never posted them in the end!
This group of photographs are from a little evening adventure back in late summer last year. I loved the location, it's completely hidden out of sight, however you almost get that feeling as if you are being watched from every angle, and for me it also doesn't help that the building and its grounds resemble edward scissorhands', you know, they even had topiary bushes, sheer genius!

I think I'm going to go back here in the summer to take some sunny shots of the place with no overcast clouds.
Also, the vintage car below was actually sitting abandoned outside the Castle, not really sure if it is the owner's or if someone has just dumped it there, but it looks beautiful alongside the building.
